Conclusion
I’m mostly pleased with this. This table functioned perfectly right out of the box (at least for the log in I installed under). The tools I use (Gimp, OpenBoard, Scribus, all of which are open source) all identified the pen and tablet and recognised pen pressure, among other things. With the included software, adjusting pen pressure sensitivity was straightforward and intuitive.
