Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Laptop Review

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon weighs 2.4 pounds, and we haven’t heard anyone say it’s too heavy. However, if you want a business laptop that is even more portable than the winning ultraportable, Lenovo has you covered. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano replaces the Carbon’s 14-inch screen with a 13-inch panel that, like the Dell XPS 13, has a slightly taller 16:10 aspect ratio rather than 16:9. This reduces the weight of the Nano to to 1.99 pounds, making the 2.64-pound Dell look downright hefty. The ThinkPad X1 Nano isn’t the lightest notebook in its general size class (the Asus ExpertBook B9450 reduces a 14-inch machine to 1.91 pounds), but it’s an excellent go-to productivity companion. It deserves an Editors’ Choice award for being the best of what we might call “extreme ultraportable” so far.
Despite being lighter, the Nano is slightly larger than its competitors, measuring 0.66 by 11.5 by 8.2 inches vs 0.6 by 11.6 by 7.8 inches for the Dell XPS 13 and 0.6 by 11.6 by 7.8 inches for the Razer Book 13. It has the same matte-black style as other ThinkPads, with a carbon-fiber top and magnesium-alloy bottom, and has passed the same MIL-STD 810H durability testing. When you hold the screen corners or squeeze the keyboard deck, there is almost no flex.
