Popular gaming laptops have become slimmer and lighter in recent years, but there’s something to be said about large-screen, huge power. The MSI GE76 Raider (starting at the price of $1,499) is a 17.3-inch laptop with a blistering Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 “Ampere” GPU in our $3,129 review setup. The MSI GE76 Raider is filled with premium features for the price, including a 300Hz panel, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB solid-state disk. While the Raider is extremely fast, it doesn’t outpace the more compact, RTX 3070-equipped Alienware m15 R4, nor does it outrun more portable (and more appealing) 17-inch choices.

These advantages begin with the large screen, which has a refresh rate of 300Hz. The full HD (1080p) screen is more commonplace, but it is adequate for achieving frame rates that can enjoy the benefits of the quick refresh-rate. You may desire better resolution to see a clearer images, but this merely makes playing games more difficult, and 1080p play may be intimidating enough at the top graphics settings. The bezels around the panel are relatively thin, and the overall picture quality is nice and sharp.
